Yale University
Our Commitment
Yale University values the perspectives and lived experiences of students from small towns and rural areas. Yale’s undergraduate admissions process considers applicants within their specific context, background, high school, neighborhood, and geographic setting. On campus, Yale students benefit from a supportive residential college and advising system, a generous need-based financial aid program that meets 100% of need with scholarship grants, and a thriving rural student organization. As a founding member of the Small Town and Rural Student (STARS) Network, Yale is committed to expanding its support of rural and small-town students on their path to and through college.

Yale Young Global Scholars
January 10th 2025, 12:00 am EST
Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is one of the most globally diverse, two-week academic summer programs in the world. Our curriculum is highly collaborative, exposing participants to innovative topics while facilitating student discussions shaped by international perspectives. Students have the opportunity to participate in a STEM, social sciences, humanities, or cross-disciplinary track.
STARS Scholarships will be awarded to selected students who self-identify as living in and/or attending school in rural and small-town areas in the United States, as part of Yale University’s commitment to supporting these students on their path to and through college. The scholarship covers full tuition and travel costs for students to attend any of the YYGS sessions offered in 2025.
In order to be considered, students must apply by January 10, 2025.
